I am planning on visiting the Grand Canyon late summer 2008, however I am from NYC and I don’t have a car. Does anyone know the best posible way to get there without a car?

Grand Canyon. Bright Angel trail view. South RIm

If you could visit only one, which would it be? I know that the south side is more visited, and has more attractions, but do I need to see it from this side? I am speaking as a tourist/photographer. Please speak from experience. Thanks.
