We got up to four feet of snow at the Grand Canyon so I decided to film some of it. It looks like a Winter Wonderland, I was sent home early because of the roads being closed. I went to the General Store and grabed me a bottle of St. Ides and a Hungry Man dinner. I went back to my room in Trailer Village and got back to http://www.adroed.com Come join me.

Nick and I took an 8-day road trip across America last month. We planned our route using AAA.com’s TripTik Planner + GPS, and it was easy! The only problem we ran into was our original plan to enter the Grand Canyon through the North Rim. The night before we left to the Grand Canyon, we called some hotels outside of the North Rim and asked them how long it would take to drive to he Grand Canyon to watch the sun rise. The reception said the North Rim entrance is CLOSED during the winter — DOH! And, the guy at the reception said, “good luck with the sunrise, it’s been snowing the past few days and you’ll probably have very little visibility!” — DOH! Nevertheless, we still went and risked our lives on the viewpoints to shoot this short clip

This is a mix of some of the videos I took at the grand Canyon during the best time to go- WINTER! It’s less full, the rim is gorgeous with the snow cover, it’s really not that cold even on the rim (more mild than a typical north east or north central city and in the canyon it’s in the 60s or 70s on a typical winter day. Just watch the weather reports make sure you don’t get caught in a snowstorm.
As for my choice of music… well, I wanted to pay John Denver a tribute, but Country Roads and Rocky Mountain High just didn’t seem appropriate for the Grand Canyon (I’ll use those songs in other videos, hopefully), so this is what I came up with.
Enjoy.

In this video you can watch a snow storm approaching the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, just as my husband Randy and I are taking a walk up there in February 2008. So if you plan to go on a trip to the Grand Canyon, be aware that it can get very cold there in the winter, and very hot in the summer, and the weather tends to change rapidly!
